Convertible car seats are essential for a growing child and bank account. With just one purchase, you can have a car seat for life. I had the pleasure of testing the Evenflo Everyfit 4-in-1 convertible car seat and can say that I wasn’t disappointed.
Right off the bat I noticed that this is definitely a lifetime car seat. It can accommodate children from 4 to 120-pounds and lasts about 10-years. It was a hassle to install since it’s so bulky, but once it was installed, it stayed put quite well.
I absolutely loved the one-hand adjustments. The headrest can be adjusted with one hand and the harness doesn’t need to be rethreaded through new slots when adjustments are needed. I could easily raise or lower it as needed without detaching anything.
I wish that the internal frame was made from steel as opposed to robust plastic, but it does still meet and/or exceed all safety standards. It does make for a lighter frame, but it still makes me a little uncomfortable.
I highly recommend this car seat because it’s for life. You pay one price and that’s it. It accommodates a wide range of height and weight. I wouldn’t let the plastic frame bother you since it still meets safety standards.

Weight and Height Limitations
Each mode of this seat has its own weight and height limitations.
It is essential to refer to this information frequently as your child grows so that you keep them in the best and safest seat for them.
In rear-facing mode, your child must be between 4 and 40 pounds, and between 17 and 40 inches tall.
In forward-facing mode, children must be a minimum of 22 pounds and a maximum of 65 pounds. They can also ride in this mode until they are 49 inches tall.
To transition to a harnessed booster, your child must be between 40 and 65 pounds and up to 57 inches tall.
The seat-belt booster mode accommodates children from 40-120 pounds and up to 57 inches tall. Lastly, the backless, or no-back, booster mode can be used for children from 40-120 pounds and up to 57 inches tall as well.
One Seat for Life
The Evenflo EveryFit is designed to be the only safety seat your child needs for their entire life. It starts as a rear-facing infant seat for children as small as four pounds.
The soft and safe padding that surrounds the frame of this seat adequately keeps even a 4-pound baby safe and sound. Also offered in rear-facing mode are three recline positions to reduce head slumping and keep your infant as comfortable as possible.
As your child grows, it converts into a forward-facing convertible seat, a harnessed booster, a belt-positioning booster, and finally, a backless booster.
The belt-positioning and backless booster modes can accommodate children up to 120 pounds. This typically takes the average child until they are about ten years old to outgrow.
With the Evenflo EveryFit, one chair grows with your child. This seat fits the safety needs of your child through each stage of their life. How comforting would it be to know that you never have to worry about buying another car seat for your child?
SureSafe Installation System
This seat is equipped with something called with SureSafe Installation System. This proprietary system allows any adult to install the Evenflo EveryFit quickly and safely.
The system includes LATCH connectors that attach the seat to your vehicle’s LATCH anchors. These connectors also come with a set of LATCH guides. These guides are proven to improve proper installation by two times compared to standard LATCH installation.
Simply use the SureSafe quick connector LATCH on both sides of the seat to connect safely and securely to any modern vehicle. This system is easy and straightforward for a babysitter or grandparent to use. It gives you the peace of mind that your child’s safety seat is always installed properly.
One Hand Adjustments
Nothing speaks to me as a mom like being able to accomplish something with one hand. When it comes time to get your child into the car seat, that typically means that at least two bags are slung around your body and a squirming child is in your arms.
The Evenflo EveryFit offers a headrest that is easily adjustable with only one hand. This ensures that your child is seated in the safest position every single time they ride.
The safety harness of this convertible car seat is also designed to be easily adjustable. The Evenflo EveryFit harness does not need to be rethreaded through new spaces in order to be adjusted.
It can simply be raised or lowered as needed to fit your child as he or she grows. These convenient adjustments may not seem like central features, but to a busy mom, they make all the difference.
What We Like
Perhaps the best thing about this seat is its long lifespan. As previously mentioned, the Evenflo EveryFit has the potential to last your child for ten whole years.
This means ten years of being confident that your child has a safe and secure seat on every car trip. I don’t know about you, but checking something off my list for ten years, with one purchase, is highly intriguing.
Mesh Fabrics for Optimum Airflow
The car seat can be incredibly hot for a child to sit in for an extended period of time. No matter how cool the car is, my son’s back is almost always sweaty when he gets out of his car seat.
The Evenflo EveryFit it made with mesh fabrics that are designed to promote airflow and breathability. This keeps your kid cooler and more comfortable for longer periods of time.
Modern and Stylish Aesthetic
While it may not be the most important aspect of a car seat, the style and design of a seat are factors that many families consider.
The Evenflo EveryFit has a sleek and modern design that blends nicely into the seat of your car. Each of the four modes offers smooth lines that are contoured to your vehicle’s seat. The fabric and color options are also fashionable and esthetically pleasing.
For being a car seat that lasts your child for ten years, you would think it would be one of the most expensive baby products on your list. This is not true for the Evenflo EveryFit. The latest model, and all styles, come in well under many other popular convertible car seat models.
For many, this EveryFit is a reasonable price for JUST a rear-facing child seat alone. However, you are getting four different child safety seats with this budget-friendly selection! It’s rare to find baby gear that is safe, reliable, and affordable.
What We Don’t Like
Internal Frame Not Made of Steel
The Evenflo EveryFit is not made with a steel frame. The frame of this seat is made with a robust plastic that is sufficient to withstand numerous amounts of dynamic safety tests. The company insists, and proves, that the lack of a steel frame does not make this seat any less safe. In fact, it still meets and exceeds all safety standards.
In our minds, however, knowing that the frame is plastic instead of steel is still something that we don’t love about this seat. Although, the reasoning behind it, is that it allows the car seat to be lightweight and easier to move between vehicles. The seat is uniquely designed to manage the energy from a crash without the addition of a steel frame.
Crotch Buckle Padding Falls Off Frequently
One of the most frequent complaints from owners of this seat is about the padding around the crotch buckle. This padding is in place to keep your child comfortable while they are safely buckled into their seat.
However, many users note that this padding falls off quite frequently. One mother even commented that, while strapping her toddler into the rear-facing mode, she had to replace the buckle padding three times. This annoying feature can be solved by removing the padding altogether, however, it will be a less comfortable ride for your child.
Struggle to Install
While the SureSafe LATCH connecting system makes it simple to connect to your vehicle’s LATCH anchors, many families report installation struggles in other areas. Specifically, putting enough pressure on the seat so that it is securely in place is a common area of struggle.
The system is designed so that you must push down on the seat while pulling up on the webbing for the LATCH connectors. Some reviews comment that even their large husbands, pushing all their weight onto the seat, struggled to get the seat to be secure.
However, the EveryStage seat has only three modes instead of four. The EveryStage does not convert into a backless booster seat.
Another major difference is that the EveryStage offers a higher weight limit for rear-facing mode, allowing your child to ride rear-facing for longer. Because of this added feature, this seat is more expensive than the EveryFit. We prefer the EveryFit for its extra mode for bigger kids, as well as for its cheaper price.
Overall, the Evenflo EveryFit 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat is a great fit for those looking to purchase only one car seat for the duration of their child’s seat-riding days.
This is designed to be the only seat you will ever need, and is offered at an extremely budget-friendly price. Between the safety features, SureSafe LATCH connectors, and easy adjustments, this seat is a slam dunk for any growing family.
