Sure, you may be skeptical. How can a jogging stroller be enough to handle a day-to-day routine? As always, remember that babies under six months should not be taken on jogs (source)

Bumbleride Speed Jogging Stroller Review [By A Mom] 1Allow me to introduce you to the only stroller you’ll ever need. The Bumbleride Speed jogging stroller has everything you need. As it turns out, the Speed jogging stroller is a bit more than just a jogging stroller.

Overall, it was very easy to run with this stroller, the wheels were moving smoothly. Whenever, the tires were low, the attached pump came in handy. The only major drawback is that it only fits one child.

Why is the Bumbleride Speed Special?

    Eco-friendly

The fabric on this stroller is made from 100% recycled PET. This means every Speed stroller reuses 28 water bottles.

    Speed3 Steering

This is the only stroller on the market with this feature. The front-wheel has three functions. It can be set to a 360-degree swivel. It can be locked. It can even be limited to a 30-degree pivot for stability in rough terrains.

    Bumbleride bell

This jogging stroller comes complete with a bell you can use to alert other joggers without breaking your stride.

    The Bumbleride Quality

Now what? Bumbleride strollers famously hold their value. You’re likely to net a nice resale price on the Speed jogging stroller. The cons? They aren’t many. It is an expensive stroller. There are definitely cheaper jogging strollers on the market. You get what you pay for though – those strollers don’t offer the same features as the Bumbleride Speed.

    The Price

For the price, you’d probably think the stroller could be used for multiple children. Unfortunately, the Speed stroller is a one-child operation, so you may want to consider a traditional stroller.

While sister stroller Indie offers a twin style, the Speed only comes in a single. Additionally, there are no available attachments to accommodate any siblings.

The Speed does not have a toddler board attachment or anything like it. While you can connect an infant car seat, the stroller still can only handle one child. For avid runners with multiple children, this could make the Speed a no-go.

    Easily Repairable Tires

Also, consider the tires. The Speed has air-filled tires.  This allows for a smoother ride for your little one.

However, they are notoriously high-maintenance. The stroller comes with an air pump.  Also, air tires can mean punctures. Flat tires are fixable but inconvenient. If you like it rough, terrain-wise, you might be replacing some tires.

    How Safe is It?

With jogging strollers, safety is essential. After all, you’ll be running at a fast pace and bringing your vulnerable child along for the ride. The Bumbleride Speed does have a few safety features that you’re going to love.

All jogging strollers should feature a parent wrist strap and reflective logos. The wrist strap attaches to mom or dad’s wrist to prevent any runaway stroller situations. The reflective logos alert drivers to your presence. It’s more than that.

The suspension this stroller boasts is amazing. Even on gravel, this ride is smooth. Your child will experience minimal bounces and bumps.

    Pros and Cons

Guess what? This stroller is lightweight and easy to carry! With the rear wheels attached, you’re looking at only 26 pounds. If you need it even lighter, those rear wheels detach. If your parenting team involves two very different heights, rejoice!

The adjustable handlebar of the Speed stroller accommodates the smallest to the tallest.

This jogging stroller should last you years. After all, it has a three-year warranty. But what about when you’re done with it? Your children have all grown and you don’t need a stroller anymore.

    What We Like

    • Lightweight aluminum frame
    • Adjustable handlebar
    • Holds its resale value
    • Car seat compatible with the adapter

    What We Don’t Like

    • Only for one child, no multiple children options
    • Air tires mean flat tires
    • Pricey
    • Parent and child trays sold separately

    Expiration

As you probably know, strollers aren’t subject to expiration dates. However, that doesn’t mean they last forever. The lifetime of the Speed or any other stroller is dependent on the parent’s judgment. If you feel the stroller has fallen into disarray or similar, discontinue its use.

    Recalls

The Speed stroller has experienced one recall. It was only effective in Canada.

In 2018, it was decided that the Speed jogging stroller did not meet the sharp edge requirements of the Carriages and Strollers Regulations set forth by the Canadian government.

In the simplest terms, the hinge on the back of the stroller was too sharp and could cause injury. Bumbleride offered retrofit kits to those affected.

The Bumbleride Indie stroller, a similar stroller from the same manufacturer, was recalled in 2012. It was found that the front wheel could break at the axle rod. 36 incidents were reported.  Only minor injuries occurred. Consumers were instructed to contact Bumbleride for a repair kit.

    Peace of Mind Warranty

When you purchase a Bumbleride stroller, you can rest easy thanks to their warranties. The frame of the Speed stroller is covered by a three-year warranty.

Meanwhile, the fabric and tires of the stroller are covered by a one-year warranty. The warranty covers any defects in workmanship or materials. It does not cover normal wear and tear, lack of maintenance, or accidents. To be covered under warranty, the Bumbleride Speed stroller must be purchased from an authorized Bumbleride dealer.

Don’t Forget to Register this Stroller by Mail or Online.

This includes customers in both the U.S. and Canada. To be notified of future Bumbleride recalls, register your product with this form here. After registering, the manufacturer will notify you of any recalls on your product and how to fix or replace the issue.

This style is military-chic. Camp Green is a mix of olive green, tan, and black.

This charming style is made of gray and mint green.

    3. Maritime Blue

This crowd-pleasing style is a handsome navy blue.

    4. Matte Black

Black is the new black. There’s a reason it’s such a staple.

    What Other Parents Think

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this stroller has quite the cult following. Many reviews contain exclamations that the Speed Jogging stroller being “the only stroller needed.” First and foremost, avid runners love how easy this stroller is to maneuver and push through any terrain.

Storage isn’t a problem with the large bottom basket (which totally fits a large diaper bag) and the mesh pockets found on the back of the stroller.

Lastly, the detail no one knew they wanted – the Bumbleride bell. It’s a basic bicycle bell, but it comes in handy when you’re running up behind someone on a sidewalk or trail.

This bell comes standard on the Speed, but can be purchased separately for other Bumbleride strollers.

    What makes customers cringe?

Luckily, there isn’t much. For one, customer complaints do mention the difficult setup. The assembly of the stroller is complicated, but not impossible. Several customers also experienced axle issues. Some mentioned rust. Others mentioned the axle breaking entirely and needing to be replaced.

    What Customers Like

    • Easy to maneuver and push
    • Plenty of storage
    • Extra-large canopy with UPF 45+
    • Large stroller seat

    What Customers Don’t Like

    • Difficult to assemble
    • Potential axle issues

    What Are the Other Options?

    Bumbleride Indie Stroller

Bumbleride Speed Jogging Stroller Review [By A Mom] 2It was intended to be the best of both worlds, so to speak. It’s an everyday stroller with jogging capabilities. While it has the features of a jogging stroller, the company itself does not recommend heavy runners use this stroller.

The Indie should be reserved for more casual joggers. The Indie is great for navigating both urban and suburban worlds at a slow to moderate pace. Both Bumbleride strollers are made from the same eco-friendly materials and are free from fire-retardants and other harmful chemicals. The Speed weighs in at 26 pounds; the Indie is 24 pounds.

Air-filled tires are standard on both.

The Indie is newborn-friendly. While you cannot jog with a baby under six months, this stroller features an adjustable footrest to accommodate leisurely strolls. The footrest can lay flat or be angled up to keep baby safe and secure inside the seat.

    Similarities

    • Both made from same eco-friendly materials
    • Both are lightweight
    • Both have air-filled tires

    Differences

    • Speed intended for heavy jogging use
    • Indie has an adjustable footrest
    • Indie includes a patterned style
    • Indie does not have the Bumbleride bell

Bumbleride Vs. Bob Revolution Pro Jogging Stroller

Bumbleride Speed Jogging Stroller Review [By A Mom] 3Bumbleride Speed Jogging Stroller Review [By A Mom] 4To break away from the Bumbleride name completely, there is the offering from Bob. In looks and feel, the Bob Revolution Pro and the Bumbleride Speed aren’t that different.

Both look modern and sleek. Both have aluminum frames. Both offer easy folding, reclining, and maneuverability. Both strollers even have extra-large UPF sunshades with peekaboo windows. The differences are minimal, honestly.

The biggest difference is in the braking systems.

The Bumbleride Speed has a foot brake while the Bob Revolution Pro has a hand brake. Safety is a priority with both these brands, so this boils down to personal preference. In the same vein, the Bob jogging stroller is four pounds heavier than the Bumbleride. It weighs 30 pounds.

    Similarities

    • Both have one-hand recline adjustment
    • Both have air-filled tires

    Differences

    • Bob has hand-activated brakes
    • Bob is heavier
    • Bob has Velcro-closure peekaboo window

    Accessories You’re Going to Want

Accessories aren’t needed, of course. They certainly do make life easier, though. You’re going to want to get your hands on these Bumbleride-branded accessories. All of these can be purchased from the Bumbleride website or from Amazon.

    1. Bumbleride Speed Bassinet

If you will be using the Speed as your everyday stroller, you should consider the Bassinet. In a snap, your jogging stroller turns into a parent-facing pram. This attachment can be used for newborns and babies up to 19 pounds.

    2. Bumbleride Parent Pack

The Speed stroller has ample storage, thanks to the numerous pockets it has. Still, the Speed does not come with a parent tray, and you may miss it. The parent pack attaches to the adjustable handlebar. It has two cup holders and a magnetic-close pouch.

    3. Snack Pack (Child Pack)

The Bumbleride Child Pack attaches with Velcro to the bumper bar of the stroller. It’s perfect for some holding some Cheerios or other snacks. You won’t have to stop your run to give your child a snack. Good news: you can fold the stroller with the child pack still attached!

    4. Bumbleride Cold Weather Footmuff

Truly dedicated runners are not intimidated by any weather. If you live somewhere where temperatures drop, you’ll want this footmuff. This super cozy attachment keeps your little one nice and toasty while you exercise.

    Your Mileage May Vary

So many Bumbleride owners swear that the Speed jogging stroller is the only stroller you will ever need. It’s not hard to see why. It combines the best of both worlds: a luxury everyday stroller and a jogging stroller. You can do it all!

Your mileage may vary, of course. Strollers are a personal choice that comes down to what you actually need and want. Consider the good and the bad, and you’re sure to make the correct choice for your family.
