I’m always a fan of convertible strollers, so when I was asked to review the Nuna Mixx 2, I was excited to do so.

Most strollers are made the same. You put your child in it and they are forward-facing. You can see them, but only if you walk around the stroller or look through the peek-a-boo canopy.

A feature the Nuna has that many others don’t have is that you can use it in two modes; forward or parent-facing. You can turn the seat around so that your child faces you rather than the road. This was something I’ve never seen before. Does it make it worth the price, though? No.

Other than the reversible seat, everything else was pretty standard. I was able to recline the seat almost completely flat, which made it easier for my child to nap while we were out for a stroll. It has a decent storage basket and the sun canopy did a great job of protecting them from the sun.

When it came time to fold it up, I found it to be a challenge. I don’t have a large trunk so when I folded this up with the sear parent-facing, it was big and bulky. It slimmed down a little in the other mode, but not by much.

I don’t think I can honestly recommend this stroller for a few reasons. Although I did enjoy the reversible seat, it just doesn’t justify the price. Additionally, there’s nothing else that makes it stand out from the rest.

First and foremost, the MIXX2 stroller is designed for infants and toddlers from birth to 50 pounds. The main seat is reversible, allowing kids to ride front- or rear-facing depending on what stage they’re in, it includes a 3- or 5-point harness, and has five different recline positions that can be adjusted quickly and easily with just one hand.

Parents will also be happy to see that one of the recline positions is practically flat so you can use the stroller can with even the smallest of babies. Purchasing an infant insert (sold separately) allows parents to utilize the MAXX2 from day one.

Nuna MIXX2 Stroller also includes an extra-large storage basket, perfect for hauling diaper bags, groceries, or blankets. An additional storage pocket on the back of the seat is the perfect spot to keep parent-essentials: snacks, wallet, and your phone.

    Easy To Use

Parents also rave about how incredibly easy it is to use the MIXX2. It has excellent maneuverability, with a tight turning radius, and can be pushed around with just one hand.  Additionally, the telescoping handle has three different heights making this stroller an ideal choice for parents short and tall.

The rear wheels on the MIXX2 are also a bit larger than the front wheels and are all foam-filled, helping to help you roll over all types of surfaces, including gravel, cracked sidewalks, and grass.  When you’re ready to stop for a while, the single-action brake pedal allows you quickly and safely lock the back wheels in just one move.

    Nuna Mixx2 Stroller

    Customer Reviews

Parents around the world love many of the features that the Nuna MIXX2 offers. Some of the key features users rave about include maneuverability. This stroller is super easy to use and built for everyday use.

Additionally, parents love the extra-large storage basket and how they can quickly turn this stroller into a travel system by utilizing the included infant car seat adaptor or the MIXX bassinet, whether they’ve purchased it separately or together as a stroller and bassinet combo.

    Main Recommendations

    • Easy maneuverability.
    • Turns into a travel system.
    • Extra-large storage basket.

As with any stroller, the Nuna MIXX2 does come with its own set of complaints.  A lot of parents have a problem getting the 3- or 5-point harness to fit snugly and complain that they need to rethread the harness every time they have to change it. Definitely not a deal-breaker, but annoying nonetheless.

Additionally, the seat fabric isn’t removable or machine-washable, which can make cleanup a chore, and the footrest fabric on the MIXX2 is made of a different material than the rest of the stroller and tends to get really hot in the sunshine.

    Main Complaints

    • The harness doesn’t tighten properly and needs to be rethreaded.
    • The fabric is not removable or machine-washable.
    • The fabric on the footrest gets too hot.

The Nuna MIXX2 travel system is definitely a hefty one.  The stroller itself weighs a little over 26 pounds, not including any accessories.  But, it can also support toddlers up to 50 pounds, so it needs to be able to handle the load.

    • Weight:  26.8 pounds
    • Unfolded: 44.3 inches tall X 23.4 inches wide X 33.5 inches long
    • Folded: 16 inches tall X 23.6 inches wide X 35.8 inches long

Nuna offers a two-year warranty on the MIXX2 stroller against any manufacturer defects and starts on the day you buy the stroller. If you find anything wrong with your MIXX2, call Nuna immediately and make sure to have your model and serial number handy.  They will do their best to repair or replace your stroller quickly.

    Comparison Shopping

It can be a little confusing and overwhelming to try and find the best stroller for you and your family. Features that are important to you, might not be as important to someone else and, at times, it can feel like there are a zillion different things to consider.

Here are just a couple of examples to (hopefully) help make the whole process a little easier on you.

    Nuna MIXX2 vs. Nuna MIXX

If you’re in the market for a Nuna MIXX2, you will undoubtedly come across the 2019 Nuna MIXX.  It can certainly be confusing, but both strollers are simply the same stroller, but different generations.

The Nuna MIXX2 and the 2019 Nuna MIXX are essentially the same.  You can use both for kids up to 50 pounds and in either a forward- or rear-facing position.

The rear-facing mode on both models also has a bassinet position allowing for the seat to lie practically flat for even the smallest of newborns.

Both strollers are almost the same weight, include a telescoping handle, foam-filled wheels, and extendable canopy.

    • Can be used forward- or rear-facing.
    • Both support kids up to 50 pounds.
    • There is less than a pound difference in weight.
    • Telescoping handle.
    • Foam-filled wheels.
    • Extendable canopy.

The list of differences between the MIXX2 and the 2019 MIXX is pretty extensive. Most importantly, Nuna answered three of the primary parent complaints in its upgraded 2019 version: the harness and the seat and footrest fabrics.

The 2019 MIXX now includes a no-rethread harness, the footrest fabric is made from the same material as the seat, and the seat fabric is now removable and machine-washable. Thank you, Nuna!

The seat on the 2019 MIXX also has an all-season seat, allowing parents to convert the back of the seat into mesh when it’s hot and sticky outside, it’s about four inches longer than the previous model, and the handlebar is now brown instead of black.

    • No-rethread harness.
    • All-season seat.
    • Removable seat fabric.
    • Updated footrest fabric.
    • Four inches longer than the MIXX2.
    • Brown handlebar.

    UPPAbaby Vista vs. MIXX2 Stroller

The UPPAbaby Vista Stroller is another excellent option to look at when you’re shopping for premium strollers. Beware that the price of the Vista is going to be higher than the MIXX2, but it most definitely has some features that you will want to note.

Let’s first talk about the similarities between the Vista and the MIXX2. Both strollers are essentially the same weight and can be used for babies from birth to 50 pounds and are reversible for kids to ride forward- or rear-facing.

Each also includes an extra-large storage basket, expandable canopy with UPF 50+ protection, and can be easily maneuvered and folded for trunks and storage.

    • Similar weight.
    • Designed for kids from birth to 50 pounds.
    • Reversible seat.
    • Extra-large storage basket.
    • Expandable canopy.
    • Easy to drive.
    • Compact folding for travel and storage.

Now let’s talk about the differences between the UPPAbaby Vista and the Nuna MIXX2.  First and foremost, you will find a bassinet included with your Vista. Similar to the one sold separately for the MIXX, it’s safe for overnight use, can be used for infants up to 20 pounds, and includes UPF 50+ fabric in its sunshade.

The Vista can also convert into a double stroller.  This is a feature you’ll want to consider if you’re looking to expand your family. Additionally, when folded, the VISTA can stand upright by itself. Unfortunately, MIXX2 won’t do that.

    • Bassinet included.
    • UPPAbaby Vista can convert into a double stroller.
    • Vista stands upright for storage.

Nuna has also created a nice line of accessories for its MIXX2 for those of us who need a little something extra. Two of the most popular accessories include a bassinet and a child snack tray.

    1.MIXX Bassinet

The Nuna MIXX Series Bassinet is designed for parents who are always on the go. Additionally, the Nuna MIXX2 can be purchased as a set with the bassinet to extend your use of the stroller even further.

The bassinet itself is recommended for infants from birth to 20 pounds and 27 inches tall. It connects easily to your MIXX2 stroller, is approved for overnight sleeping, includes a plush mattress, Dream Drape, and folds flat when not in use.

Additionally, the bassinet also offers a convenient storage pocket for essentials.

    • For babies up to 20 pounds
    • Approved for overnight use
    • Plush mattress and premium fabrics
    • Dream Drape
    • Folds Flat

    2.Snack Tray

MIXX2 stroller Snack TrayTrying to keep toddlers happy on the go can sometimes be challenging.  Adding a child snack tray to your MIXX2 stroller allows you to keep a drink and a snack handy for your little one.

Once the snacks are gone, use the tray for a couple of small toys instead. The tray is made from durable plastic and snaps easily on the side of your MIXX2 stroller for easy access, as well.

    • Tray measures 5 inches wide X 5.5 inches deep X 13.5 inches long
    • Made from durable plastic
    • Snaps onto your MIXX2 stroller
